– The 4th edition of the Cinematech International Film


Festival concluded with a spectacular showcase of storytelling and innovation, honoring
filmmakers from around the world for their outstanding contributions. Held over two
captivating days, on December 10th and 11th, 2024, at the Mumbai Institute of Film &
Television Arts & Cinematech Film Institute, Behind St. Thomas School, Opp. Timeless
Restaurant, Sheetal Nagar, Mira Road East, Mumbai – 401107, the festival celebrated
cinematic excellence across various categories.

The following are the highlights of this year’s award winners:
• Best Feature Film 2024: Pottel (India)
• Best Director (Feature Film) 2024 (Joint): Sahit Mothkhuri (Pottel) and Yata Satya
Narayana (Razakar) (India)
• Best Editor (Feature Film) 2024: Ashish (Jami) (India)
• Best Cinematographer (Feature Film) 2024: Sreerag Mangat (Jami) (India)
• Best Screenplay 2024: Lekshmi Pushpa (Jami) (India)
• Best Documentary (Feature Length) 2024: Matarife La Película by Daniel Mendoza

In the short film categories, the winners displayed exceptional creativity and talent:

This year’s Chief Guest Pandharinath Kamble, fondly known as ‘Paddy,’ an acclaimed Indian
Marathi film and television actor. As the esteemed Chief Guest, he inspired audiences with
his words, emphasizing the importance of platforms like Cinematech in nurturing talent and
celebrating the magic of storytelling.

Anshuman Choudhary, Founder of Cinematech Mediaworks LLP, expressed heartfelt
gratitude during his thanksgiving speech, acknowledging the unwavering support of
sponsors, jury members, and media partners. “This festival stands as a testament to the
power of cinema in uniting hearts and minds. We are proud to provide a platform for artists
to share their voices and stories,” he said.

Special thanks were extended to the festival’s sponsors, Sony India, and media partners,
Jamshedpur Mirror and Bollywood Couch, for their invaluable contributions. The jury,
comprising cinematic stalwarts like Harish Patel, Dr. Sudipta Roy Chowdhury, Shamik
Maulik, Ashish Kulkarni, Matin Khan, and Vikrant Hazare, ensured the celebration of truly
deserving films.

This year’s festival also marked the launch of the Cinematech Film Institute, an initiative to
cultivate future industry leaders. The institute offers courses in direction, cinematography,
acting, editing, and scriptwriting, incorporating cutting-edge technologies like AI in
filmmaking.

As the curtains fall on another successful edition, the Cinematech International Film Festival
continues to inspire creativity, collaboration, and the celebration of cinema. Organizers
promise an even grander experience next year, keeping the spirit of storytelling alive and
thriving.
