Actress Tanishaa S Mukerji Reveals 3 Of Her All-Time Favourite Marathi Films, is all praises for the way Marathi entertainment industry is shining!

Actress Tanishaa S Mukerji has the art of cinema running in her DNA & blood and no wonder, she is a fast learner. Movies have always been an integral part of her life. Be it the contributions of her grandfather Sashadhar Mukherjee who has been a pioneer filmmaker & producer, her father Shomu Mukherjee who has been a reputed director, writer & producer or her mother Tanuja who’s a legendary actress, she boasts of a strong and commendable legacy that eats, sleeps and breathes cinema. As an artiste, Tanishaa doesn’t believe in restricting herself to any language. While the majority of the work that she’s done on-screen has been in Hindi, she is quite close to Marathi culture and has been particularly attracted towards Marathi cinema for the finesse that they bring to the table.

Talking about Marathi cinema, Tanishaa S Mukerji was recently asked about 3 of her all-time favourite Marathi movies which she genuinely loved and appreciated. To which, the actress shared,

“Well, Marathi cinema has always been doing so well and in terms of the way the scripts are written and filmmaking is done, there’s so much that other industries can take cues from. If I talk about my all-time favourite Marathi films, they would be ‘Pitruroon’, ‘Jait Re Jait’ & ‘Shapit’. ‘Pitruroon’ is my mom’s film where she literally shaved her head to it. It is a beautiful film about a widow dealing with female supression and patriarchy. ‘Jait Re Jait’ too is phenomenal. It has the wonderful Mohan Agashe and Smita Patil in it. The movie has won the prestigious National award as well and I love it for its direction and the performances. Last but certainly not the least, ‘Shapit’ too is worthy of mention. It is a heartwarming tale of a farmer who was tortured for ‘lagaan’. A moving tale on the suffering of farmers. For me personally, these are the real gems and true milestones of Marathi cinema. All three movies are quite different from one another yet they were so brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them. I feel the Marathi industry is in a brilliant space right now and it’s only onwards and upwards from here.”

Well, quite interesting choices indeed, coming from Tanishaa S Mukerji and we certainly agree with her picks.
