Director Saumitra Singh, who marked his directorial debut with the short film The Wallet, starring Nasseeruddin Shah and Navani Parihar, is now streaming on Disney+Hotstar through Filmeraa. While the short film bagged more than 70 prestigious awards across various National and International Film Festivals, he owes his success to the hard work and dedication of his team and family members who always believed in him, especially his loving mother Shipra Singh.

He says, “It was like a dream come true for me when Naseer sir said yes to my script, I will always have gratitude for him. I learned a lot from him on the set as well, especially how to keep things simple and clear. I also want to encourage youngsters to watch The Wallet on Disney+Hotstar and keep dreaming, like me, soon enough, yours will come true too.”

Besides The Wallet, Saumitra Singh has also helmed two more short films – a social message film focusing on Menopause, Painful Pride (starring Pallavi Joshi and Rituraj K Singh) and a fiction drama, Kalabaai from Byculla (starring Sharib Hashmi and Shruti Bapna) and will be soon arriving on OTT platforms.

Recently awarded with Dadasaheb Phalke Aspiring Director 2019-20, Saumitra Singh, is planning to make a film for direct OTT release that will go on floors in the third week of September and wrapped up by November. Post which, he will be venturing into Marathi films and would start his approach for his dream project Anam which is touted as the first-ever stunt sports film of India.
