As far as scams are concerned, the cons have always figured out different ways to get their job done. While everything looks and sounds very convincing in the very beginning, the threat that lies around it is severe. In the past few years, online scams through videos have been a serious threat and that’s exactly why, this one-of-a-kind web series ‘Video Cam Scam’ that’s set to stream on EpicOn is creating a lot of buzz. Video cam scam is a type of scam that prevails all over the world where unknown women lure men online into video calls and when they fall into the trap, they record their videos and eventually blackmail them. As per statistics, more than 15,000 people get trapped every month in this type of scam. What makes this scam most deadly is the fact that people not just lose money or property, they also committ suicide eventually. Regarding the project and the scam, the creator of the project Pavan Malu who brings along with him a bagful of experiences as a maker gets candid and shares an important message for everyone. From his research and shoot experience to how one can stay away from the menace, he talks about all of it. Regarding the same, when we asked Pavan, he said and we quote,

“I always wanted to tell stories which are inspired from day to day incidents and happenings of life. While researching about this story, i was shocked to see how a common man can become a victim to an unknown devil. There are so many incidents and life examples of these victims. This story and issue has not been tapped in any film or web series till now in India and hence it will definitely leave an impact on the audience. It’s a very relatable topic.
While shooting Video Cam Scam, there were several fun and dramatic incidents. Vaibhav Khisti has directed Video Cam Scam and has done a fabulous job.
While shooting the climax scene, there were a lot of small small issues that were arising, but the biggest concern for rains. It was a difficult scenario because all the artists were going to be present and it was going to be a long day with a lot of other logistics brought in together. But then we took a conscious call to shoot the scene whenever rain stops. And we actually shot the whole outdoor climax whenever rain stopped. There are many such small incidents.”

Well, all we can say is that kudos to Pavan for actually bringing up facts in an important web series like this that’s set to create awareness on a subject like this like never before. Here’s wishing him good luck and success for ‘Video Cam Scam’ and everything that he does in the future going forward. Stay tuned for more updates.
