Bollywood Celebs Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with eco-friendly Ganapati Idols while following Covid-19 Guidelines

Ongoing Coronavirus crisis may have ensured low key festivities but the spirit and fervour of the 10 day Ganapati festival which got underway on August 22 to September 2 remains intact.

Bollywood celebrities led the way in welcoming Ganapati home. From opting for eco-friendly Ganesh idols to urging people to follow COVID-19 protocol and take all precautions to stay safe and maintaining social distancing norms along with wearing a mask.

Several celebrities also extended greetings on the occasion to their fans and followers on social media and also requested people to stay safe and celebrate the festival responsibly. Mega Star Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Global Star Priyanka Chopra extended their wishes through social media posts.

Hrithik Roshan, Sussanne and family bid goodbye to eco-friendly Lord Ganesha during Visarjan Pinkie Roshan took to Instagram and shared pictures from visarjan of their eco-friendly Lord Ganesha. The photos featured ex-couple Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan’s two kids – Hrehaan and Hridhaan, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, actor’s sister Sunaina and other family members.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh who’s known for his DIY(Do It Yourself) videos on how to make eco-friendly Ganpati idols at home, decided to continue the tradition, only this time, the job was taken over by his son Riaan and Rahyl, who created an eco-friendly Ganesha idol from scratch with help of their father.

In the video, Riaan and Rahyl are seen making paper balls out of old newspapers, which are then shaped into a Ganesha-like structure. The idol was also fine-tuned with a colouring session and voila, Ganpati idol at home was ready.

“Stree” fame Actor Rajkummar Rao also shared a glimpse of his Ganpati idol, which is made of turmeric and wheat flour.

Bollywood Actor and Goodwill Ambassador UN Environment, Dia Mirza who is also one of the most vocal environment activist explaining the true meaning of visarjan said, “In a way, Visarjan reflects nature’s life cycle, while it should be one of the most eco-friendly events in India, it has become something else altogether. This Ganpati, take a moment to understand the meaning of a birth cycle, go minimal, natural and sustainable. Hope you all have joyous and safe festivities. Ravina Tandon also celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco – friendly way. She wrote in her social media platform, “Our eco-friendly Bappa! #omganeshayenamah, I pray that all of you have been responsible and considerate enough to opt for #EcoFriendlyGanesha this year and every year to come..he will surely bless you for saving our Prakriti! Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

Superstar Salman Khan welcomed Lord Ganesha along with his family members including brother Arbaaz Khan, sisters Arpita, and Alvira with their respective families and parents Salim Khan, Salman Khan and Helen on August 22. Bhaijaan along with his family bid adieu to Ganesha on Sunday.

Actor Shraddha Kapoor looked pretty in pink as she stepped out with her family for Ganapati Visarjan.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra also shared a glimpse of her celebrations on Instagram and wrote, “Saying goodbye is always the hardest, especially when Gannu Raja is on His way home. Although it’s a rather quiet & subdued farewell this year… we’re sending Him only with a promise that He’ll be back next year with better times.”
