From IT Industry to Film Industry Shiraz Henry has come a long way. Featured Unsung Heroes by Akanksha - September 30, 2020September 30, 20200 Shiraz Henry is from the Steel city of Chhattisgarh Bhilai, after completing his basic studies from Bhilai he came to Mumbai and completed computer courses. He is the first one to open the computer centre of repute in Bhilai. Running the business of computer for around 13 years, he shifted to Mumbai in the year 2003. Shiraz initially started his career in Bollywood with fashion photography and publicity designing. in 2009 he was appointed as the chief of photography for BNA -Germany magazine. So far he has done photography and designing for films for more than 150 video albums and serials. Later he started writing scripts, in 2010 his first movie as a debut director was ‘Beyond the Third Kind ‘made under the banner of Golden Eye Productions. The movie was revolved around the problems of transgenders and transactions, the subject itself was very controversial during that time. Although Beyond the Third Kind was his first directed movie, his first released movie in the theatres was ‘the Dark Secrets of Toni’, which was based on the superstitious belief of in Chhattisgarh region. After spending three months in forest, meeting villagers he wrote the script of “the Dark Secrets of Toni ‘. The film mainly deals in the beliefs of the villagers where they believe that black magic woman goes to the forest in the midnight, and perform satanic rituals fully naked. This subject was again very controversial but he stuck to his plan to complete the movie at any cost. Every year more than 5200 women are massacred labelling them as black magic woman or witches. Since Shiraz himself belongs to Chhattisgarh, he was grown up witnessing all the news and incidents of Toni since his childhood. Last year his directorial venture ‘Little Boy was released in the theatres, Little Boy was based on the story of a prominent personality of Arunachal Pradesh Mr Yumlam Achung. Henry is working in all the projects along with Rebecca Changkija Sema, who is from Nagaland. Rebecca Changkija Sema is promoting North East India by capturing the beautiful locations of North East region and promoting the talent of North Eastern youths. His recent work ‘Filmi Raasleela’ directed by Shiraz Henry deals with the current issue of men prevailing in Bollywood and me too movement has been released in OTT platforms. Filmi Raasleela is again a realistic movie, in fact, a very dark movie. Shiraz Henry gets attracted to subjects which are realistic and based on social issues. Shiraz shares “First I was dealing with the transactions and transgender, then Tony was dealing with the black magic issue and recent film Raslila deals with the Dark Side of Bollywood, for some reason I get attracted to realistic and controversial subjects only”. His other movies are ready, due to current lockdown he aims to release them in various OTT platforms Hungama Play, Airtel Extreme, Mx Player, Don Cinema, Vodafone Play, Idea Play, Amazon Firestick etc Currently, he is busy finishing all pending projects and has the plan to release them one by one OTT platforms. Shiraz is utilising the lockdown by writing new scripts, for Web Series as well. He has been finalized as writer and director for an English movie to be shot in Australia and it will feature some big names from Hollywood. He is a firm believer of Jesus Christ and gives all the credit of Christ for whatever he has achieved. His parents were working in Bhilai steel plant, while his father Late Shri M K Henry was working Steel Melting Shop in BSP SAIL, his mother was the Head Mistress at BSP School. After he shifted to Mumbai for pursuing his dreams in Bollywood, he had to struggle a lot as he didn’t have any God Father, to the extent that he was homeless and a couple of times and had to even sleep in Godown. But God has been kind to him and he is blessed to have good support from his family and friends, especially his wife who was teaching at DPS Bhilai.
