The title of the film comes from a pungent northeastern ethnic dish called Axone. In the film, a bunch of aspiring youngsters from north-east India are trying to get together and cook a special dish, Axone. The film also features Bollywood actor Sayani Gupta, Dolly Ahluwalia, Lin Laishram, Vinay Pathak, Aakash Bhardwaj and Jimpa Bhutia among others. Axone was the official selection for the BFI London Film Festival in 2019 and India Story Mumbai Film Festival. Kharkongor’s first film was ‘Mantra’ which starred Rajat Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin and Adil Hussain.
