On the auspicious occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Nalanda Theatre’s grand theatrical performance of Rashmirathi, the timeless creation of national poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, was successfully completed at Veda Factory in Versova, Mumbai Featured Funtainment by Akanksha - August 19, 20240 The leadership of this special event was taken by Shakti Kumar, founder of Nalanda Theatre, and organizer Vinayak Tripathi, who provided the audience with an unforgettable experience of literature and theatre. To make this theatrical performance even more dignified, several distinguished personalities marked their presence. These included renowned actor, writer, and singer Piyush Mishra, veteran actor Akhilendra Mishra, senior critic Ajit Rai, and many other prominent artists from the National School of Drama and the theatre world. Apart from this, film producer Shri Dinesh Gupta (Delhi), Dr. Sanyukta Thorat, Head, Fine Arts Department, Nagpur University, and many others specially came from outside Mumbai to watch this presentation. Their presence made this event a historic moment. The program began with a solo play “Rashmirathi” presented by Surabhi, a cultural organization from Begusarai, Bihar. The founder of the organization is Ajay Kumar Bharti, and the conceptualization and direction of this play were done by Harish Hariaudh. Music direction was done by Vishnu Dev Bharti and Ganesh Gaurav. Lighting design was done by Sanjay Kumar Sonu, while background music was provided by Ashish Kulkarni. Sadananda Mulik showcased his skills as a musician. Stage management was done by Ashutosh Dubey, and stage coordination was handled by Jayant Gadkari. Harish Harioudh’s powerful direction and unique acting brought all the rasas of Hindi literature to life on stage, mesmerizing the audience. His presentation created an atmosphere where no one in the audience was left without a smile on their face and without applauding repeatedly. After this, veteran actor Akhilendra Mishra ji, in his special comments on the play, said, “The dialogues emerged from the Rigveda, the acting from the Yajurveda, the music from the Samaveda, and the rasas from the Atharvaveda, and we saw the combination of all four in today’s presentation of Rashmirathi. In fact, we saw the Vedas.” His profound comments further elevated the greatness of this theatrical presentation, making it a historic and unforgettable moment. Renowned artist Shri Piyush Mishra ji, who enjoyed the play as an audience member with full enthusiasm, said that he had fully immersed himself in this experience, which would be an unforgettable part of his life. According to him, if he had to select a few theatrical performances in his life, he would definitely include Harish’s Rashmirathi. He emphasized the need to organize more grand presentations of Rashmirathi, encouraging the artists and Nalanda Theatre. This successful event fully showcased Nalanda Theatre’s literary commitment and their dedication to Indian culture. At the end of the event, founder Shakti Kumar and Vinayak Tripathi announced from the stage that a resolve has been taken to stage Rashmirathi across India.
