Thursday was indeed a big day for actor-producer Preeti Jhangiani as she was appointed President of the Maharashtra Arm Wrestling Association. This appointment came in considering the tremendous work Preeti and Parvin have been putting into promoting arm-wrestling as a sport not just in India, but also abroad. In fact, over the past few years, Preeti and Parveen have worked towards the development of the arm-wrestling community across Maharashtra.

In 2020, Preeti and Parvin Dabas launched the Pro-Panja League which has gone on to become Asia’s biggest promotion in the sport of arm-wrestling. The Pro Panja League has had a couple of tournaments all over the country, it was held in Gwalior, in front of the Gwalior fort, in July last year. In fact, it has also been receiving an unbelievable response on social media. More than 155 million views across its social media to date!
It will soon be announcing its first season this year with a Major broadcast channel .

Talking about this new position Preeti says, “Of course, I am very elated. But more so, I am honored to have been elected as President of The Maharashtra Arm Wrestling Association. As a sport, I have been very fond of arm wrestling always because its roots lie in our childhood. It is a sport we have all played even as kids. With this honor,we feel our effort is paying off and I hope I can live up to this position in its best capacity.”

She also adds, “Together with Dr. Shrikant Walankar, Shri Sachin Matne, Shri Pramod Walmadre, and our formidable team, we aim to promote Arm Wrestling in a big way in Maharashtra, as I have been doing as co-founder of the Pro Panja League as well.”

With this new position, Preeti has pledged to encourage women and specially-abled athletes to take up the sport of arm-wrestling. She says, “The sport of arm wrestling has a very low entry point financially but has large physical and mental gains. I aim to encourage more women and specially-abled athletes to enter this sport. I was born and brought up in Mumbai and Maharashtra is my home. I will always work towards the progress and empowerment of my Maharashtra and its athletes. Jai Hind!”
