Shaan & son Shubh release a song on Father’s Day

Saregama has launched a new song called Hukus Bukus – on the occasion of Father’s Day, sung by noted singer-musician Shaan and his thirteen year old son – Shubh. The song will be featured in the forthcoming Yoodlee Films release – Hamid – a thought-provoking and sensitive drama based in Kashmir.

The song which has a beautifully infectious tune is a reworking of an old Kashmiri folk song by the same name. Shaan has given the song its new musical arrangement, and has also sung it along with his thirteen year old son Shubh. The song has additional lyrics by Manthan, and the video which also features Shaan, has been shot in Kashmir.

Siddharth Anand Kumar, VP of Yoodlee Films said,

“We were in the lookout for a song that would reflect the inherent innocence of a eight year old boy living in Kashmir – the central character of our film Hamid. We discovered this gem of song – Hukus Bukus – an old Kashmiri folk tune, that talks about the relationship between the divine power and us. Having Shaan’s son Shubh sing this song with him gives it a certain innocent charm. Its all the more special that we are releasing  Hukus Bukus ahead of Father’s Day.

Taking about the experience, Shaan said, “Composing this song was a wonderful experience. The song talks about how we are all the same when one divine power has created us all. I wanted to keep the original song as intact as possible, and yet lend it a beat that  complements its signature tune and is catchy as well. My son has sung in this song with me and working with him makes the song that much more special”

Hamid is a story of on eight year old boy Hamid, whose father goes missing in strife torn Kashmir. When he hears that the number 786 is God’s number, he dials numbers from his father’s old phone trying several combinations, hoping to talk to God about his father. His call one day reaches a CRPF Jawan, embittered with the ravages of war in the valley. These two people, far removed from each other’s world, but bound together by strife, unknowingly change each other’s lives

Hamid is completely shot in Kashmir. The film is produced by Yoodlee Films, the film division of Saregama, who champions the cause of #FearlessFilmmaking. Over the last few months Yoodlee Films has released critically acclaimed films like ‘Ajji’ and ‘Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz’, and has ‘AscharyaF**kIt’ and ‘Noblemen’, to be released soon.
