Sherleen Dutt on bathing women being video taped at Mahakumbh: Culprits must be given the strictest punishment

There are recent reports that women have been secretly filmed while bathing at Mahakumbh and these videos are being sold. Actress Sherleen Dutt, who has has been a part of the shows KINK and Honey Trap Squad and web series Koi Jaye Toh Le Aaye and Shringarika, says that the culprits must get the strictest punishment.

“This is an absolutely shameful and disgusting act that reflects the lowest levels of morality some people can fall to for the sake of money. Mahakumbh is a sacred event where people come with faith and devotion, and exploiting women in such a manner not only violates their dignity but also disrespects the entire spiritual sentiment of the gathering,” she says.

She adds, “The culprits should be given the strictest punishment possible under the law. This is not just an invasion of privacy but a criminal act that can deeply traumatize the victims. Such acts deserve swift legal action, and those responsible should face imprisonment, heavy fines, and strict cybercrime charges to set an example.”

She says that something needs to be done to avoid situations like these. “It requires a combined effort—stricter laws, faster enforcement, and most importantly, a societal shift in how people view women and consent. People need to understand that no amount of money or entertainment justifies such acts. Digital platforms must also be held accountable for allowing such content to circulate. Education, awareness, and strict punishment are the only ways to bring real change,” she says.
