Chairperson, Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Ms Pooja Sharma today attended a virtual conference along with Director, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Shri Bhupendra Kainthola, Registrar, FTII, Shri Sayyid Rabehasmi and Shri Sandeep Shahare from FTII, Pune.

It is to be mentioned that under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri P. S Tamang, earlier on 13th October, Ms Sharma had called on Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Dr L. Murugan at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi to request for developing a Film Institute at the proposed site of Eco-Heritage Film Village at Yangang to which the Minister assured all possible support and assistance.

A letter had been forwarded to Director, FTII, Pune from the Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting of India.
Therefore, the virtual conference was conducted based on the response from the MoS.

Speaking at the virtual conference, Chairperson, SFPB, Ms Pooja Sharma informed the senior officials from FTII about the upcoming Sikkim Global Film Festival to be organized by SFPB and scheduled to be held from 10th-14th December 2021 at Gangtok.

She also appraised and briefed the officials from FTII on developing a Film Institute inside the proposed site of the upcoming Eco-Heritage Film Village at Yangang, South Sikkim. She further extended her invitation and sought participation from the FTII officials to attend the upcoming Sikkim Global Film Festival.

Director, FTII, Shri Bhupendra Kainthola assured to provide required assistance and support from FTII, Pune to Sikkim Film Promotion Board to make the event a success. He further put forth his suggestion to the Chairperson, SFPB to conduct interactive sessions and short courses on filmmaking for the film enthusiasts during the festival.
He further added that FTII, Pune will be sending a proposal to SPFB for conducting short courses on filmmaking under the Amrit Mahotsav celebration by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which include a film appreciation course, mobile film making course, etc.
