Jaya Prakash Reddy dies at the age of 74

Telugu actor Jaya Prakash Reddy died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He was 74. He was at his residence at the time of his death.

Fondly called JP, the actor was best known for playing comic and villainous roles in films. Jaya Prakash Reddy has so far acted in more than 100 films. Jaya Prakash played the role of a villain in the blockbuster Jayam Manade Raa and Chennakesava Reddy. He was the recipient of Nandi Award for Best Villian.

Tributes poured in on Twitter from the likes of Nagarjuna, Venkatesh Daggubati, Mahesh Babu, Prakash Raj, Jr NTR, SS Rajamouli, Sudheer Babu, Genelia D’Souza, Kajal Aggarwal, Surender Reddy, Satyadev Kancharana, Rakul Preet Singh and other actors and filmmakers. Some of them are as follows.

Rest in Peace sir Jayaprakash Reddy Garu,” tweeted Jr NTR.

Nagarjuna, who shared screen space with Jaya Prakash Reddy in several films like Manmadhudu, King, Bhai and Adhipathi, tweeted: “He was a fine gentleman, Mr Jaya Prakash Reddy Garu… My condolences to his family and may his soul rest in peace.”

Mahesh Babu mourned Jaya Prakash Reddy with these words: “Saddened by the passing of Jaya Prakash Reddy Garu. One of the Telugu film industry’s finest actor-comedians. Will always cherish the experience of working with him. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Director SS Rajamouli, in his eulogy piece, wrote: “Shocked and saddened to know about the sudden demise of #JayaPrakashReddy Garu. Had great times working with him. Thanks for entertaining us with your versatility by portraying some memorable comedy and villain roles over the decades. May your soul rest in peace.”

Rana Daggubati shared a picture of Jaya Prakash Reddy along with a few heart-breaking emoticons.

“Woke up to terrible news. Rest in peace sir,” Sudheer Babu wrote in his tribute.

Rakul said, “This is so sad!! Have worked with him in so many films. Condolences to the family. RIP Jaya Prakash Reddy Garu.”

Jaya Prakash Reddy was last seen in Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’.

Some of his notable works include films such as ‘Samarasimha Reddy’, ‘Jayam Manade Raa’, ‘Chennakesava Reddy’, ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’, ‘Narasimha Naidu’, ‘Kabaddi Kabbadi’, ‘Gabbar Singh’ and ‘Temper’.
