It has evoked a variety of superlative responses from the viewers, as seen in the comments that are pouring in. People are lauding the film for its sensitive handling of a complex subject and its unique storyline that sets it apart from films of a similar genre. The acting ensemble led by noted actors like Rasika Duggal, Sumit Kaul and Vikas Kumar is also being praised. But the surprise has been debutant Talha Arshad Reshi who plays the role of the eight-year Hamid, who is garnering accolades for his acting turn that he has delivered with an inherent innocence, without any precociousness, in the film. ‘Hamid’ is directed by Aijaz Khan whose debut film ‘The White Elephant (2009)’ premiered at the prestigious International Film Festival of India. Say Aijaz, “It’s hard to make an honest film on something so complicated as the Kashmir issue, that will ask some very unbiased and hard-hitting questions. I am happy that audiences are able to understand the graph of the film and the honesty in the narrative. Hamid is a simple film of finding love and hope in the darkest of times. It breaks stereotypes and I hope audiences give the same love to the film as they have to the trailer.” Siddharth Anand Kumar, VP, TV and Films, Saregama and Yoodlee Films says, “ We are all delighted with the response to the Hamid trailer. The film seeks to promote human empathy and understanding in times of conflict, and it is great to see the audience responding to this thought on the trailer. Truly, this is a triumph of good content and I can’t wait for audiences to see the film in its global premiere at the MAMI film festival this year.” ‘Hamid’ will premiere at the soon-to-be-held Jio MAMI 20th Mumbai Film Festival with Star. This film has also been officially shortlisted for the Oxfam Best Film Award on Gender Equality.
